For anyone who is a fan of The Daily Show or who wonders aloud about the usefulness of the ‘Rally to Restore Sanity,’ this is an interesting conversation between Mark Schmitt (The American Prospect) and Timothy Noah (Slate) about the Stewart/Colbert phenomenon.
What do you think of Stewart? Are they taking him too seriously? Does he not take himself seriously enough?
The most interesting comment in my opinion was the aura of “too cool to care” mentioned by Noah that affects their politics. Does it also affect how they are viewed by serious people trying to solve these problems? I wonder.
Given that President Obama will be a guest on The Daily Show tomorrow it will be interesting how the President handles himself and how the mainstream media reacts.
